Beautiful Berners or Bernese Mountain Dogs :-
The Bernese Mountain Dog, called in German the Berner Sennenhund, is a
large breed of dog, one of the four breeds of Sennenhund-type dogs from the
Swiss Alps. The name Sennenhund is derived from the German "Senne"
(alpine pasture) and "hund" (dog), as they accompanied the alpine
herders and dairymen called Senn. Berner (or Bernese in English) refers to the
area of the breed's origin, in the Canton of Bern in Switzerland. This mountain
dog was originally kept as a general farm dog. Large Sennenhunds in the past
were also used as draft animals, pulling carts. The breed was officially
established in 1907. In 1937, the American Kennel Club recognised it as a
member of the Working Group. The country of origin of Bernese mountain dog is Switzerland.
The weight of male Bernese mountain dog is about 85–110 pounds (39–50 kg) and
the female Bernese Mountain is about 80–105 pounds (36–48 kg). And the height
of male Bernese mountain dog is about 25–27.5 inches (64–70 cm) whereas the female
Bernese Mountain is about 23–26 inches (58–66 cm). Its coat is double and they
are mostly found in tricolour (black, rust, and white). The litter size of Bernese
Mountain is 1-14 puppies; 8 usual and it’s life span is about 6-8 years.
